The Road to v0.5
I'll be posting v0.5 within the next month or two. I have been working with playtesters on fixing some balance issues, and reworking combat.
Facing and Defenses were reworked, as well as how Parrying and Dodging works. They're now Passive effects (Parry is only melee, Dodge is Melee and Ranged) and you can spend two Minor Actions to enter stances which allow for riposting (in the case of parry) or make your dodge significantly better. There are also stances for readying yourself to take a hit (for people who like to HP tank/not evade), and options for defending against Resilience or Grit attacks.
In addition, a bunch of weapons received a damage buff. Especially those who don't have Brutish or Agile. Essentially, those weapons have a high base damage whereas Brutish/Agile generally reach around the same base damages but can theoretically be higher or lower depending on your Physique/Finesse respectively.
There'll be some new Talents to accommodate the new combat system.
Deities are getting tweaks, namely their Precepts are being buffed in certain areas and Legendary Weapons are getting a blanket buff now that I know what "normal" damage numbers look like in the game.
I'm also adding two new deities; Nyarlethotep and Thor. Really, they should've already been there. I just forgot.
And finally!
There are two supplements also in the works at the same time.
The Conversion Guide serves as an unofficial means to convert from other popular game systems to The Fade Abyss. So far the Pathfinder 1e chaper is the only one completed. There's also some minor rules about introducing things from other games (like Alignment) into The Fade and how it would work.
Monsters & Encounters is a fully fledged Bestiary. Over 250 monsters planned, and that's JUST the monsters. I also have other chapters in the book; enemy specific Paths, new Talents and Spells, rules for traps, and more. This will probably be the last "big" book for a bit. After the Bestiary I'm restricting future supplements to 100 pages maximum (with non-"major" supplements being an even stricter 50 page maximum). Just for my own sanity's sake. The Core Rulebook is already in the 500s, and the Bestiary will likely be in the 300-400s if I'm not careful. Lord help me.
And it's all free! Because I just want an audience. Making a profit is secondary to making a good game that people enjoy.
Also, the Foundry System for The Fade Abyss is almost done. I haven't made it public yet because it's still being tweaked and combed for bugs. Which, I'm sure there still are some. As well as quality of life features. But! It's almost ready.
